Eastern Shore, Nova Scotia - Fishermans Cove, Lawrencetown Beach, Sheet Harbour & Sherbrooke Vil

One of the things that we love about living in Truro is we are so connected to so many day trips! One of the ones we like to take quite often, especially when we have friends and family in from out of province is to Fisherman's Cove in Eastren Passage. It's just outside the city, has a a boardwalk with shop's and restaurants. Our favourite place to eat is Bookdocks - in the summer they have a great patio on the water with lots of seating and a specatular view of the city and McNab's Island. After supper we always visit the Candy shop for dessert or one of the iceream places. We also like to browse in and out of the tourist shops and the galleries. You will also want to time your visit at sunset as on McNab's beach you get one of the best views of the sun setting on the city that you can find.

Just down from road from Fishermans Cove is a small beach on the side of the road you can pull over and walk and from here you get a great view of Devil's Island and the reamins of the lighthouse.

Lawrence Town Beach

Lawrencetown beach is about a 20 minute drive from Fishermans Cove. This is David's favourite beach in the province. It is unique as there are so many smooth pebbles on the beach. Here you will also see surfers. If you visit and have time one of the best view points is from the top of the cliff - there is a path with a slight inlince to climb.

Sherbrook Village

On a photo trip with the Truro Imagemakers Photography Club we visited Sherbrooke Village - it was a bit of a cold day- but that made it great for us taking photos are there were not many people around. If you have not visited it is worth the drive there - they have live demontrstations - we witnessed people making candles, weaving, blacksmiths shop. They also have a great gift shop where you can purchase items made at the site. We brought home a candle holder and some candles.

Liscomb Lodge

For Supper after Sherbrooke Village we went to Liscomb Lodge - they have a beautiful dining room with large windows that face the river. The food was delicious. After supper we went for a walk around the proprety and took a few photos of the waterfalls. I want to go back and spend a few days here - it looks like it would be so relaxing and fun.
